Williams Advances to Semifinals at Wimbledon, Lakers Officially Announce
LeBron Signing, Gaviria Wins Fourth Stage of Tour de France and Lightning Sign

Serena Williams is advancing to the semifinals at
Wimbledon after beating 52nd-ranked Italian player Camila Giorgi 3-6, 6-3, 6-4
today. If she wins, it will be her eighth title at Wimbledon and 24th Grand
Slam title overall, but her first after having a baby. The Associated Press quotes Williams on her feelings about the
tournament:
“This is only
my fourth tournament back, so I don’t feel pressure. I don’t feel I have to win
this; I don’t feel I have to lose this,” Williams said. “I’m just here just to
be here and to prove that I’m back. And I feel like I’m back. I still have a
long way to go to be where I was.”
Elsewhere at
Wimbledon German player Julia Goerges defeated Kiki Bertens 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 to
advance to the semifinals where she will face Williams.
The Los
Angeles Lakers officially announced the signing of LeBron James last night,
according to a report from the AP. The four-year deal is worth $153.3 million.
Lakers’ president of basketball operations, Magic Johnson, praised James and
explained how significant his signing to the team was.
“He loves to
compete and is an awesome leader who is about winning and making sure that his teammates
are successful,” Johnson said. “The Lakers players are excited to have a
teammate who has been to nine NBA Finals. It’s a huge step closer to returning
the Lakers to the playoffs and to the NBA Finals.”
Eurosport.com reports that Fernando Gaviria has won the fourth stage at
the Tour de France today. Gaviria denied Peter Sagan his second stage win of
the race, but expressed admiration for the rider.
"We’re
really happy. I’d like to thank all my teammates for all their hard work for
this victory. Max [Richeze] did a really great job at the end. We all know that
Peter Sagan is one of the greatest riders in the peloton so I’m really proud to
be able to beat him."
The Tampa Bay
Lightning have signed Nikita Kucherov to an eight-year, $76 million extension
according to TSN. Kucherov was the Lightning’s top player in terms of
points last season, and third in the NHL, with 102.

will make her WWE® game debut with WWE
2K19. The game will have its worldwide release on October 9, 2018.

Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (NYSE:WWE) and FOX Networks Group Asia announced an agreement to stream Raw® live
on FOX exclusively in the Philippines beginning next week.
