The Roadies will be the first to hit stores, and feature a “lugged outsole inspired by the brand’s first style, a Skechers Sport Utility logger boot”. Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers, commented:

“Building off the chunky sneaker trend dominated by our Skechers D’Lites collection, we felt it was the perfect time to bring back our first fashion sneakers that started it all—Roadies, Cleats Retro, and Heartbeats. We’ve seen fashionistas gravitating towards ‘80s and ‘90s style. Reintroducing these three designs as part of this fresh Skechers Heritage revival collection is sure to create a new generation of fans for our most iconic Skechers styles.”

Daktronics, Inc. (Nasdaq:DAKT) is providing nine LED displays and approximately 1,400 LCD for an IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) system for the Texas Rangers at the team’s new Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Chuck Morgan, the Rangers Executive Vice President, Ballpark Entertainment, said:

Celtics Fight for Survival Tonight Against Bucks in Milwaukee While Rockets and Warriors Look to Break Series Tie, Colorado Avalanche and San Jose in Game 7 Tonight and Tokyo Olympics Struggle with Rising Costs for 2020

The NBA conference semi-finals are pushing on with the Boston Celtics playing in Milwaukee against the Bucks for game 5 of their series, and Houston playing the Golden State Warriors in Oakland for their fifth game tonight. The Celtics are currently down 3-1 to Milwaukee heading into tonight’s game while the Rockets and Warriors are tied in their series. Last night saw the Raptors take a 3-2 series lead against Philadelphia with a 125-89 victory, and Denver pulled ahead of Portland with a 124-98 win, giving them a 3-2 series lead as well.

In the NHL playoffs, the San Jose Sharks host the Colorado Avalanche tonight in game seven of their second round series. The winner of tonight’s game will face the St. Louis Blues for the Western Conference final. The Blues eliminated the Dallas Stars last night in a tight 2-1 victory, with St. Louis left-winger Pat Maroon scoring the winning goal in overtime. Blues goalie Jordan Binnington, who made 29 saves in the game, told NHL.com:

"Obviously, we had lots of shots and the puck was in their end a lot of the game (outshot Dallas 31-4 in second and third period), and as a goalie you just have to be patient and stay composed and just believe in your team. Pat Maroon came in huge."

For the Eastern Conference finals, the Carolina Hurricanes open their series in Boston against the Bruins on Thursday night.

The Associated Press reports that Tokyo Olympics organizers are being face with having to make budget cuts. The problem does not appear to be a lack of money – the event has $5.6 billion from private funding, $3 billion from local sponsorships and $15 billion from the government, making it twice the budget of the Rio Olympics in 2016. Rather, the need for spending cuts is coming from an increase in costs, according to Tokyo Olympics spokesman Masa Takaya.

“Because Tokyo 2020 has been promoting the maximum use of existing facilities, naturally Tokyo 2020 is assuming the increased cost of the overlay and temporary facilities projects.”

Additionally, the bill for the opening and closing ceremonies has reportedly risen by 40 percent, helping to push the estimated cost of the games to three times the initially expected $7.3 billion.

Pistons and Hornets Vie for Final NBA Playoff Slot, Magic Johnson Steps Down as Lakers’ President of Basketball Operations, NHL Playoffs Start Tonight and SportsLine Predicts Rory McIlroy as Masters Champion

Today is an important day for the NBA, being the final day of the regular season with one playoff spot yet to be decided. The eighth playoff seed is in contention between the Detroit Pistons and the Charlotte Hornets. Essentially, if Detroit wins their game against the New York Knicks tonight, they will have clinched the eighth seed. However, if Detroit loses and the Hornets win their match against the seventh-seeded Orlando Magic tonight, then Charlotte will replace the Pistons as the eighth seed.

Meanwhile, Magic Johnson stepped down as the LA Lakers’ President of Basketball Operations yesterday. Johnson made the announcement in a press conference held before the team’s final regular season game last night against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The NHL playoffs begin today, with the Columbus Blue Jackets facing off against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Pittsburgh Penguins playing the New York Islanders, the Dallas Stars playing the Nashville Predators, the St. Louis Blues playing the Winnipeg Jets and the Vegas Golden Knights facing the San Jose Sharks. And tomorrow will see: Toronto Maple Leafs vs Boston Bruins, Washington Capitals vs. Carolina Hurricanes and Calgary Flames vs. Colorado Avalanche.

The first of the golf majors, the 2019 Masters, begins tomorrow at Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta Georgia, and runs until April 14. CBS reports that according to a simulation run 10,000 times through SportsLine’s prediction model, Northern Irish golfer Rory Mcilroy is the favourite to win with 7-1 odds. Surprisingly, Tiger Woods did not even make the top ten, with odds of 14-1 projected.

Curry Leads Warriors to Clinch Western Conference as Playoffs Draw Near, Panthers Hire New Coach After Firing Boughner on Sunday and Canadian Corey Conners Wins at Valero

Stephen Curry scored 27 points against the LA Clippers last night in the Warriors’ final regular-season game. This win, their fifth straight, clinches the conference title for Golden State as they head into the playoffs. Elsewhere, the Milwaukee Bucks beat the Atlanta Hawks last night, giving them their 60th regular-season victory and solidifying their Eastern conference title. The NBA playoffs begin on Saturday, April 13.

The Florida Panthers have already hired a new coach after firing Bob Boughner yesterday, the Associated Press reports. The franchise has brought in Joel Quenneville, who won three Stanley Cups with the Chicago Blackhawks. This reunites Quenneville with Panthers GM Dale Tallon,  who hired him to coach the Blackhawks in 2008. Elsewhere, the Buffalo Sabres fired their coach of two years, Phil Housley, yesterday as well. The NHL playoffs begin this Wednesday.

The AP reports that Canadian golfer Corey Conners has won the Valero Texas Open. Conners shot a 6-under 66 and made three birdies in the final five holes. The victory earned him the final slot in the Masters next week.
