Zebra Technologies Corporation (NasdaqGS:ZBRA) has announced a new partnership with the Minnesota
Vikings. This will see the application of Zebra’s “best-in-class RFID tracking
technology to capture player and ball data for each of the Vikings’ practice
sessions this season, uncovering insights that inform game plans, evaluate
player performance, and contextualize player health and safety.” Tyler
Williams, Vice President, Player Health & Performance, Minnesota Vikings,
said:
"We’re always looking for new, innovative tools that prepare our
players to be their best on game day. Zebra’s tracking solution provides us
with the information we need to make educated decisions about on-field
performance, player workloads and return-to-play decisions. I’m confident this
technology will have a positive impact on our team this year."
Peloton Interactive, Inc. (NasdaqGS:PTON) has announced the availability of Peloton Row in Canada
for this holiday season. According to the press release, Row brings “a unique
low-impact, full-body cardio and strength workout” to Peloton’s existing
portfolio of Peloton equipment in the market, which include Peloton Bike,
Peloton Bike+, Peloton Guide and Peloton Tread. The new machine will be in all
Peloton Showrooms across Canada beginning this month for trial use.
Team USA Loses to
Germans in Basketball World Cup Upset, and NFL Season Opens with a Loss Dealt
to the 2023 Super Bowl Champions
In a huge upset, the Germans have
eliminated Team USA’s chances of winning gold in the Basketball World Cup with
their 113-111 win in Manila today, the Associated
Press reports.
Germany’s Andreas Obst and Franz Wagner scored 24 points and 22, respectively
– more points than any team ever has against a USA Basketball team
featuring NBA players. Germany will now play Serbia – who just beat Canada –
for the World Cup title on Sunday. Canada and the US will battle for bronze on
Sunday as well. Reacting to his team’s win, German coach Gordie Herbert said:
“It’s a special group. The way we played, the way we played together,
we stuck together when things got tough and we had players who made some huge
plays. One more to go.”
The NFL season opener last night saw the
Detroit Lions narrowly defeat reigning Super Bowl champions the Kansas City
Chiefs 21-20, The
AP reports. The
Lions’ David Montgomery, a former Chicago Bears running back, secured his
team’s win with an 8-yard touchdown with 7:11 remaining. The Chiefs’ tight end
Travis Kelce notable missed the game owing to an injury sustained in practice
two days earlier. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes commented:
“I mean, you’re losing I think the best tight end of all time. It’s
going to have an impact on the game, but others guys have to step up, and
they’re going to have to step up in moments, because I’m sure there will be
times when he gets doubled, and so we’re just going to have to rely on guys
that are young and talented to step up and make plays.”
