Skechers (NYSE:SKX) is resurrecting its classic 90s
line of sneakers, including Skechers Roadies, Skechers Cleats Retro and
Skechers Heartbeats. The Roadies will be the first to hit stores, and feature a
“lugged outsole inspired by the brand’s first style, a Skechers Sport Utility
logger boot”. Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers, commented:
“Building
off the chunky sneaker trend dominated by our Skechers D’Lites collection, we
felt it was the perfect time to bring back our first fashion sneakers that
started it all—Roadies, Cleats Retro, and Heartbeats. We’ve seen fashionistas
gravitating towards ‘80s and ‘90s style. Reintroducing these three designs as
part of this fresh Skechers Heritage revival collection is sure to create a new
generation of fans for our most iconic Skechers styles.”
Daktronics, Inc. (Nasdaq:DAKT) is providing nine LED displays
and approximately 1,400 LCD for an IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) system
for the Texas Rangers at the team’s new Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Chuck Morgan, the Rangers Executive Vice President, Ballpark Entertainment, said:
“The
Rangers and Daktronics have enjoyed a great partnership that dates back to
1993. With its state-of-the-art technology, Daktronics has assisted us in
providing the best possible ballpark entertainment for our fans for many
years.”
Celtics
Fight for Survival Tonight Against Bucks in Milwaukee While Rockets and
Warriors Look to Break Series Tie, Colorado Avalanche and San Jose in Game 7
Tonight and Tokyo Olympics Struggle with Rising Costs for 2020
The NBA conference semi-finals are pushing
on with the Boston Celtics playing in Milwaukee against the Bucks for game 5 of
their series, and Houston playing the Golden State Warriors in Oakland for
their fifth game tonight. The Celtics are currently down 3-1 to Milwaukee
heading into tonight’s game while the Rockets and Warriors are tied in their
series. Last night saw the Raptors take a 3-2 series lead against Philadelphia
with a 125-89 victory, and Denver pulled ahead of Portland with a 124-98 win,
giving them a 3-2 series lead as well.
In the NHL playoffs, the San Jose Sharks
host the Colorado Avalanche tonight in game seven of their second round series.
The winner of tonight’s game will face the St. Louis Blues for the Western
Conference final. The Blues eliminated the Dallas Stars last night in a tight 2-1
victory, with St. Louis left-winger Pat Maroon scoring the winning goal in
overtime. Blues goalie Jordan Binnington, who made 29 saves in the game, told NHL.com:
"Obviously,
we had lots of shots and the puck was in their end a lot of the game (outshot
Dallas 31-4 in second and third period), and as a goalie you just have to be
patient and stay composed and just believe in your team. Pat Maroon came in
huge."
For the Eastern
Conference finals, the Carolina Hurricanes open their series in Boston against
the Bruins on Thursday night.
The Associated
Press
reports that Tokyo Olympics organizers are being face with having to make
budget cuts. The problem does not appear to be a lack of money – the event has
$5.6 billion from private funding, $3 billion from local sponsorships and $15
billion from the government, making it twice the budget of the Rio Olympics in
2016. Rather, the need for spending cuts is coming from an increase in costs,
according to Tokyo Olympics spokesman Masa Takaya.
“Because Tokyo 2020 has been promoting the maximum use
of existing facilities, naturally Tokyo 2020 is assuming the increased cost of
the overlay and temporary facilities projects.”
Additionally, the
bill for the opening and closing ceremonies has reportedly risen by 40 percent,
helping to push the estimated cost of the games to three times the initially
expected $7.3 billion.
