Capitals Tie Series, Zidane Leaves Real Madrid and Jamaican Olympic Gold
Medal Appeal Refused by Court of Arbitration
The Washington Capitals tied up the Stanley Cup
finals series with the Las Vegas Golden Knights last night. With their 3-2
victory, the Capitals can attribute their win to centre Lars Eller, who scored
three points (one goal and two assists), and goalie Braden Holtby, who made an
astonishing 37 saves. NHL.com quotes Golden Knights centre Erik Haula on his
team’s loss:
"Nobody
said it's going to be a 4-0 series. It's going to be ups and downs. We've been
here before. We've been good on the road. Just put this behind, learn from your
mistakes, just try to do things better, and that's it."
Zinedine
Zidane announced yesterday that he was leaving Real Madrid as coach. This comes
just a week after he led the team to its third consecutive Champions League
trophy. The AP quotes Zidane on his decision.
“You
have to know when to quit,” said the 45-year-old Zidane, who was Madrid’s coach
for two and half seasons. “This is the right moment. I am a winner and if I
don’t see it clearly that we will keep winning, it’s time for a change.”
The
BBC
reports that the Court for Arbitration of Sport (CAS) has refused Jamaican
sprinter Nesta Carter’s appeal against stripping him and his team, including
Usain Bolt, of their 2008 Olympic Gold Medal. A doping test result from Carter
surfaced in January 2017 testing positive for banned stimulant.
